2006 February Interim report submitted by the Research Committee Related to Establishment of Higher Education Institution
April Fukuyama City establishes a preparatory office for the establishment of a university
2007 February Final report submitted by the Research Committee Related to Establishment of Higher Education Institution
May Fukuyama City establishes a Research Committee for Basic Concepts of University Establishment
October The Research Committee for Basic Concepts of University Establishment submits its report, "Basic Concepts of University Establishment"
December Fukuyama City formulates the Basic Concepts for Establishment of Fukuyama City University
2008 May Fukuyama City establishes a Preparatory Committee for University Establishment
2009 September Fukuyama City selects Fukuyama City University as the name of the new university
November Construction work begins on the Fukuyama City University Minato-Machi Campus
2010 March Fukuyama City submits an application to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for approval to establish Fukuyama City University
October The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology approves the establishment of Fukuyama City University
2011 March Construction of Fukuyama City University Minato-Machi Campus is completed

2011 April Fukuyama City University opens, first undergraduate students enroll
2012 March Fukuyama City Junior College for Women, the predecessor of Fukuyama City University, is closed
April Fukuyama City University Kitahonjo Campus is opened on the former site of Fukuyama City Junior College for Women
2014 May Fukuyama City submits an application to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for approval to establish a graduate school at Fukuyama City University
December The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology approves the establishment of a graduate school at Fukuyama City University
2015 March The first undergraduate class graduates
April Graduate school is established, first students enroll in the Master's program
2017 March The first students complete the graduate school Master's program
2018 March Fukuyama City University Kindergarten is closed
April Fukuyama City University Center for Early Childhood Education and Care opens
2021 April Transitions to a public university corporation
